QTS Skills Test Tutors
In order to obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) you need to pass the QTS Skills Test. We can provide tuition to help you do this.
What are the tests?
The QTS Skills Tests are two computer based tests in literacy and numeracy which you must pass in order to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England. (You will also need a Post Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification.) You can sit the two exams on separate occasions or on the same day. You will sit the exams in an examination room with a supervisor watching on. The pass mark is 63% in each test. You will only be allowed to resit twice. You will be given a mini whiteboard to do all your rough working out on.
QTS Numeracy Skills Test
The numeracy test can take up to 45 minutes and is in two sections. The first section is mental arithmetic and you will hear the questions asked twice each time. The second section is more complex mathematical questions based on statistical data and graphs. For the second section you can use an online calculator. If you gained a B or C at GCSE maths then you should be able to pass the numeracy test (with just a bit of relevant revision).
QTS Literacy Skills Test
The literacy test can also take up to 45 minutes and is made up of four sections. The first section is based on spelling and is worth 10 marks. The second section is based on punctuation and is worth between 8 and 12 marks. The third section is based on grammar and is worth 15 marks. The fourth section is based on comprehension and is worth between 8 and 12 marks.
